Edison is home to Plays-In-The-Park, one of the most popular attractions in the area. The park features a wide variety of activities for visitors of all ages. Edison was born in Milan, New Jersey on February 14, 1847. From a young age, Edison showed an affinity for science and technology. He became interested in electricity when he saw a demonstration of an incandescent light bulb at the age of 12.

In 1870, Edison moved to West Orange, New Jersey to work for Thomas Edison & Company, a small electric lighting company. There he developed the first commercial incandescent lamp and helped to establish the commercial electricity industry.

In 1879, Edison founded the Edison Electric Light Company with investor J.P. Morgan. The company became one of the world's leading electric utilities and pioneered the use of electric light in industrialized countries.

Edison was also one of the first people to develop motion pictures and sound recording technology. In 1894, he developed the first practical motion picture camera and developed the process for making sound recordings on phonograph cylinders.

Edison died on October 18, 1931 at the age of 84 after a long battle with illness. He is considered one of the greatest inventors in history and is widely credited with developing the modern electrical system and ushering in the Age of Electricity.
